Mesoamerican prehispanic City of TEOTIHUACAN. Second century BC to the sixth century AD.
Teotihuacan was the central power of the valley of Mexico. it was not governed by a political power based on dynastic rule typical on other mesoamerican regions. The city´s social and economic life was instead run by a solid centralized state administration overseen by groups of nobles who legitimized their power through links with divine "patrons" that represented basic cosmic forces. It is still a mystery which ethnic group founded this city but it is very likely that Teotihuacan was the center of the first great multi-ethnic empire in Mesoamerica and the prototype of the later Post-classic empires.
